When you lose a tooth, or multiple teeth, the jawbone that holds the tooth root will often start to dissolve. Once the jawbone has begun to deteriorate, it will not grow back.
Our dentists will spend time assessing your oral health to identify the cause of your tooth loss before proceeding to the treatment. This assessment can help to ensure that your tooth loss is confined to just the ones already missing.
What to Expect
When there are a number of teeth missing, our team will often place a number of dental implants that will act as an anchor for a dental bridge or a number of dental crowns. In placing a number of anchors, your jawbone will still receive stimulation without having to place a dental implant in the place of every tooth root.
If all teeth in one or both jaws are missing, a procedure commonly known as All-on-4 or All-on-6 4-6 implants are placed in each jaw and later a “click on denture” or fixed bridge can be placed on those implants to regain your full function, health and smile.
