Multiple Teeth Replacement in Brisbane
At Excellence in Dentistry Brisbane, we are passionate about treating tooth loss as it can effect your life negatively in many different ways. If you are missing a number of teeth, our Wickham Terrace dentists can help identify the cause of the problem and restore the function and appearance of your missing teeth.
As with any untreated health concern, losing multiple teeth is a health concern—it can create further oral health issues if it is left untreated. Most notably, it can cause gum disease, bone loss and further tooth loss.
When you lose a tooth, or multiple teeth, the jawbone that holds the tooth root will often start to dissolve. Once the jawbone has begun to deteriorate, it will not grow back.
Our dentists will spend time assessing your oral health to identify the cause of your tooth loss before proceeding to the treatment. This assessment can help to ensure that your tooth loss is confined to just the ones already missing.

What to Expect
When there are a number of teeth missing, our team will often place a number of dental implants that will act as an anchor for a dental bridge or a number of dental crowns. In placing a number of anchors, your jawbone will still receive stimulation without having to place a dental implant in the place of every tooth root.
If all teeth in one or both jaws are missing, a procedure commonly known as All-on-4 or All-on-6 4-6 implants are placed in each jaw and later a “click on denture” or fixed bridge can be placed on those implants to regain your full function, health and smile.
Caring for Your Implant
There are a number of steps you should take in order to care for your dental implant and supported crowns or bridges. Some steps you should take involve:
Regardless of how big or small or how many implants you have, they must be treated just as you would treat your genuine teeth. We advise our patient to brush and floss their dental implants at least twice a day.
As your normal dental schedule should be, those with dental implants should also visit a dentist every six months. Your dental implants will need professional cleaning and will also need to be checked for proper fit, placement and repair if necessary.
Dental implants can last a lifetime if they are taken care of properly. Dental implants can re-complete your smile, as well as providing full function and aesthetics to the face – meaning you can eat, drink, talk and laugh with confidence again.
