Preventative Dentistry in Brisbane
At Excellence in Dentistry, our highly skilled and trained dental team is committed to delivering an outstanding level of care to each and every one of our patients, who encompass all ages and all walks of life.
Part of that commitment includes an investment in a comprehensive, hygienist-led preventative care program. We want our patients to retain their natural smile for a lifetime, and our hygienists lead the way in helping you through cleanings, check-ups, and preventative dental education.
Why Prevention is Crucial
When it comes to your dental health, prevention care protects you and your pocketbook from unnecessary pain.
If you delay or forego dental care, it can result in more costly dental work down the road that can occur when decay and other dental problems are left untreated. Often these can also be painful experiences, leading to fillings, root canals, crowns, and even implants in severe cases.
One of the most important parts of a good prevention plan is to schedule twice-yearly check-ups and cleans. You should also practise good oral health habits at home, like brushing your teeth twice a day, using soft brushing methods to protect your enamel and gums, cleaning between your teeth preferably with interdental brushes, eating whole foods and drinking plenty of water, and refraining from smoking.
Your Child’s First Visit
If you have children, you most likely are aware of the importance of early detection and treatment of any type of dental condition. In fact, the earlier that we begin to see your child, the more comfortable they will become when they visit our office in the future.
We encourage you to bring children in as soon as they get their first teeth (around 12 months). If your child is older than that, that’s okay! We’re here to help you and eager to welcome you and your children when you’re ready.
The same at-home advice for adults applies for our little ones, too. It’s never too early to establish good brushing and flossing habits, doing your best to brush gently twice a day, and eventually adding floss when their teeth begin fitting tightly together.
